SellQuick ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains the personal data we collect when you use our website and services to sell second-hand goods, how we use it, and your choices.

Definitions

Personal data — information that can identify an individual. Processing — any operation performed on personal data (collecting, storing, sharing, deleting).

1. Information we collect

  • Contact & identity data: name, email, phone number, postal address, ID / proof of purchase when required.
  • Item data: brand, model, serial numbers, condition descriptions and photos you upload.
  • Transaction & logistics: offers, inspection results, pickup/drop-off details and payment confirmations.
  • Technical & usage: IP address, device/browser data, cookies, analytics and performance data.
  • Communications: messages, support queries, recordings of support calls where applicable.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide and administer offers, coordinate inspections and pickups, and process payments.
  • Communicate about offers, account status, bookings and customer support.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse and to protect rights and property.
  • Improve and personalise our services and website experience using aggregated analytics.
  • Comply with legal obligations and regulatory requests.
  • Performance of a contract (e.g. completing a sale or pickup).
  • Compliance with legal obligations (e.g. payment records, anti-fraud checks).
  • Legitimate interests (fraud prevention, platform improvement)—balanced with your privacy rights.
  • Consent, where required (e.g. marketing communications).

4. Sharing & third parties

  • Service providers: payment processors, courier partners, inspection/valuation partners, analytics and hosting providers (they act as processors and are contractually limited from using your data except to provide services to us).
  • Legal & safety: law enforcement, regulators or to protect rights, property or safety.
  • Business transfers: mergers, sales or reorganisations may involve transferring data with protections in place.

International transfers

Some service providers may be outside South Africa. We use safeguards like standard contractual clauses to protect your data.

5. Cookies & tracking

  • Essential site functionality (sessions, forms).
  • Analytics and performance.
  • Optional personalization & marketing (with consent).

  • Offer & inspection records: 1–3 years
  • Support messages: up to 2 years

8. Security

We implement reasonable measures to protect data (encryption, access control, monitoring). No system is 100% secure. Contact us if you suspect a breach.

9. Children

Services are not for children under 16. We delete personal data from children if discovered.

We are not responsible for third-party sites. Check their privacy policies before sharing personal data.

11. Changes to this policy

Material changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date.

Lodge complaints with the Information Regulator if unsatisfied.
